3D Printable Folding Hangers

During my second quarter at UCLA I took a Rapid Prototyping class, the class centered around learning about the different forms of additive manufacturing and designing a marketable product that displays the benefits of additive manufacturing.

My groupmates were Zach Gateley and Muhan Hou and our team name was Wardrobe Wizard. We designed a foldable clothes hanger to be used to hang on any object (our tag line was Hang Any Wear). My primary contribution was designing the locking and unlocking ratcheting systems that made up three of the joints of the final product. The ratchets were printed in a single piece and were operable without any post processing. Ansys simulations were performed to ensure their functionality and reliability.
